Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo, Mayawati hit the campaign trail in Delhi ahead of assembly elections to be held on Saturday. Mayawati clarified that the BSP did not have a tie-up with any other political entity. The BSP supremo stated that her party would contest all the 70 seats in Delhi.

The BSP supremo said that unemployment and poverty were on the rise across the country and that her party has been consistently demanding pro-poor policies from the Union government. She accused the Centre of favouring the more affluent sections of society.

Mayawati also attacked the ruling BJP at the Centre over Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC). The BSP chief articulated her party's opposition to CAA and NRC. She also said that the BJP did not pay attention to the welfare of minorities.

Mayawati called for a crusade against corruption. She accused the Congress and BJP of fostering corruption in most states and also in Delhi. Corruption has grown beyond any check over the past 7 decades because of these national parties, Mayawati added.

The BSP chief said that AAP was also not free from the malaise of corruption. Her party would fight for a corruption-free government in Delhi, she added.

Mayawati described the Congress as an anti-Dalit party. The BSP supremo observed that it was the VP Singh regime which had proposed Bharat Ratna to be conferred upon Babasaheb Ambedkar and accused the Congress of ignoring the architect of our Constitution.
