Cyclone Nisarga Live Updates: Heavy rainfall in Mumbai; Storm to weaken late evening
Nisarga will make landfall as 'severe cyclonic storm' close to Alibag, 94 kms south of Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon with a wind speed of 100-110 kmh gusting to 120 kmh.
Cyclone Nisarga is set to make a landfall in Maharashtra as a severe cyclonic storm today. The storm is heading at a speed of 11 kilometer per hour and is likely to make a landfall near Alibaug in the afternoon.
Once Nisarga makes landfall, it will move over north-northeastwards and cross Maharashtra and enter into Gujarat coast between Harihareshwar and Daman.
The severe Nisarga cyclonic storm will bring winds of speed upto 120 Kms/Hr.
The most recent serious cyclonic storm experienced by Mumbai is in 1891. And after 129 Years, Mumbai is all set to embrace Cyclone Nisarga.
IMD has sounded Red Alert for north Maharastra and South Gujarat. NDMA has requested people to remain indoors during the storm.

Raigad MP urges people to stay indoors as cyclone may intensify
Urging people in coastal areas to remain indoors, NCP MP from Raigad Sunil Tatkare has said the threat posed by cyclonic storm Nisarga has still not abated and it may intensify in the evening. Tatkare also asked people to follow instructions issued by the state government with regard to the cyclone. (PTI)

As per the latest India Meteorological Department bulletin, the cyclone, which was expected to move towards Mumbai-Thane-Palghar, has apparently veered off to the east and moving towards Pune. (IANS)

Sharad Pawar urges NCP workers to help cyclone-affected people
As cyclonic storm Nisarga lashed the coast of Maharashtra on Wednesday, NCP chief Sharad Pawar urged his party workers to help people at the time of the natural disaster. In a statement, Pawar noted that the cyclone has caused severe damage to public and private properties and asked NCP workers to help those affected by the phenomenon. (PTI)

No major impact of Cyclon Nisarga in Gujarat
No untoward incident has been reported in southern coast of Gujarat so far on Wednesday due to the severe cyclonic storm 'Nisarga', which has made landfall in neighbouring Maharashtra. (PTI)
