Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a high-level meeting on Friday followed by a media conference in the state capital. Yogi Adityanath observed that the UP government had issued an advisory earlier on COVID-19 spelling out the precautions to be taken. Colleges and schools across the state would be shut closed till March 21, the government had announced earlier on Friday.
The UP Chief Minister told the media that 4100 healthcare professionals have been trained in the state so far as to treat COVID-19. According to the UP Chief Minister, isolation wards have been set up in 24 medical colleges with 448 beds.
The UP government is planning to set up laboratories with testing facilities in the state, he said.
Yogi Adityanath said that 11 COVID-19 cases have been reported from Uttar Pradesh so far. The UP Chief Minister said that awareness drives would be conducted to ensure that people take preventive measures at the individual level. Yogi Adityanath also advised people against wearing masks needlessly.
The UP Chief Minister also told media persons that officials had been instructed to ensure that supply of marks and other essential medical gear is made available.
The UPA chief minister also said that the government was keeping a close eye on all those who are passing through the India-Nepal border. All those coming into the country from Nepal were subjected to thermal screening, he added.
