Mumbai continues to be a major source of worry and has been contributing in a big way to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra and the country. The total number of cases in Mumbai reported till Sunday has now climbed to 28,817.

The healthcare system in Mumbai is being overwhelmed with high numbers of COVID-19 cases being recorded in the city every day. There have been reports of inadequate numbers of beds in Mumbai and this is reported to be one of the triggers for the spread of the pandemic. The Maharashtra government took control of 80% of the total number of beds in the state to monitor the COVID-19 situation across the state.

Maharashtra has crossed the 50,000 marks already in the total number of cases.

Meanwhile, domestic flights have resumed across the country, but Maharashtra chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has said that only 25 flights would be permitted from the domestic terminal of Chhatrapati Shivaji international airport in Maharashtra. The Maharashtra Chief Minister in a conversation with the Union Minister for Civil Aviation said that the state requires more time moving forward to prepare for the full resumption of flight services in view of the COVID-19 situation in the state.
