The COVID-19 pandemic in India recorded the highest number so far on Sunday with 6,977 cases being reported in various states across the country.

The COVID-19 pandemic in India recorded the highest number so far on Sunday with 6,977 cases being reported in various states across the country. The countrywide count of confirmed coronavirus patients rose to 1,38,845. The death toll has crossed 4000 with the total number of deaths reaching 4021.

Maharashtra contributes a third of the total viral load in the country and continues to record high numbers of coronavirus positive cases with the tally now rising to 50,231. The total number of deaths in the state has now reached 1,635.

Tamil Nadu has recorded 16,277 confirmed COVID-19 cases with a low fatality rate of 111 deaths. Tamil Nadu has reported 8,324 cases of recovered patients.

Gujarat has come under a lot of criticism for its management of the coronavirus pandemic in the state. The state's tally has risen to 14,056. Gujarat has reported a very high fatality rate of 858 deaths. So far, 6,412 patients have recovered or have been discharged in the state.

Delhi has also been one of the major hotspots of COVID-19 and the total count in the national capital has climbed to 13,418. Delhi has recorded 261 deaths so far.

Rajasthan has reported 7,028 confirmed cases of COVID-19 so far and 163 deaths. The total number of recovered patients in the state stands at 3,848.

Madhya Pradesh has reported 6,665 confirmed COVID-19 cases and a high mortality rate of 290 deaths. The state has recorded 3,408 cases of recovered patients so far.
