New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, was given the old government bungalow on Tuesday (August 8), a day after his Lok Sabha membership was restored. The Housing Committee has given him back the bungalow that Delhi's 12 Tughlaqs had taken. When he received the bungalow, he exclaimed, "Mera ghar Hindustan hai."

The Supreme Court stayed his conviction in the defamation case involving the Modi surname on Friday (August 4). Following this, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi's Lok Sabha membership was restored. He also regained possession of the bungalow as a result of this.

Rahul Gandhi was sentenced to two years in prison in the Modi surname case on March 23 by a court in Surat, Gujarat. The Lok Sabha Secretariat then revoked his Lok Sabha membership. Then he was sent with a notice to quit the government residence. Rahul Gandhi went to the High Court in the defamation case, but he was denied relief. Finally, the Supreme Court ruled in Rahul Gandhi's favor. Rahul Gandhi is the Member of Parliament for Wayanad in Kerala.
