Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and other political figures have been accused of making inciting remarks over the inauguration of the new Parliament Building by bringing up the caste of President Droupadi Murmu.

The complaint charged Kejriwal, Kharge, and others with inciting animosity across communities and attempting to sow discord against the Government of India in order to further their own political objectives. Sections 121, 153A, 505, and 34 of the IPC were used to record the complaint.
The opposition parties released a joint statement mentioning "The inauguration of a new Parliament building is a momentous occasion. Despite our belief that the government is threatening democracy, and our disapproval of the autocratic manner in which the new Parliament was built, we were open to sinking our differences and marking this occasion." They added that the decision of inaugrating the parliament by PM Modi is not only insult but also a ditect assault on democracy.

The BJP-led central government has been under fire from the Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and other opposition parties for not inviting President Droupadi Murmu to the new Parliament building's opening event.

Furthermore, up to 20 parties, including Congress, CPI, AAP, and Trinamool Congress, have declared their intention to boycott the occasion.
