Less than 2.5 lakh Bengalureans have been recently added to the electoral rolls for the Lok Sabha elections on April 18. Although more than 72 lakh voters will pick candidates from Bengaluru South, North and Central constituencies, the rest will exercise their franchise in Bengaluru Rural and Chikkaballapura constituencies.

Electoral officers will allocate EPIC cards from April 5 and Election Commission officials promised to deliver cards to everyone who registered as a voter before March 16.

Draft electoral rolls issued on January 16 displayed about 88.34 lakh voters. Nevertheless, following two special drives, the five Bengaluru parliamentary constituencies now have a total 90, 83,554 voters, among which 47, 33,562 male, 43, 48,452 women and 1,540 others.

District electoral officer N Manjunatha Prasad said that EPIC cards will be distributed to voters till April 11, on Wednesday. "Directions have already been issued to all booth level officers to make home deliveries of cards," said Prasad. "If voters still don't get their EPIC cards, they can walk into the nearest assistant revenue office and collect them."
