Asaduddin Owaisi: Pragya Thakur must categorically say Godse isn't a patriot
MP Sadhvi Pragya Thakur apologised in Lok Sabha for the second time, after leaders continued their protest.
New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh MP Sadhvi Pragya Thakur brought trouble on herself when she called Nathuram Godse a deshbhakt, this time in the parliament. When she was removed from the parliamentary defense panel and banned from attending BJP party meetings, the leader apologized in the Lok Sabha this morning and said her statements were misquoted. A complaint has been filed against Pragya Thakur at Muzzafarpur Court for her remarks.
However, this apology seems to have not gone down well with the Opposition, who still continue to protest against her statements. Rejecting her apology, they said her statements were conditional and insisted that she apologise unconditionally. MP Asaduddin Owaisi stated "You (LS Speaker)said that remarks (by BJP's Pragya Thakur) aren't on records. It's an egregious breach, goes against the basic standard of conduct of a member. The member should categorically say that Godse isn't a 'deshbhakt', he's a terrorist and murderer of Gandhi." after her apology.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said he would not apologise for his statements on Thakur, calling her a terrorist insinuating her connection in the 2006 Malegaon blast case. Backing him up was Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor. The eloquent leader said Thakur must be expelled from BJP on her remarks,"What he( Rahul Gandhi) has said about Pragya Thakur is not said in the Parliament, Sadhvi Pragya has called Godse a patriot inside the House, in such a case that there should be strong action."
After an all-party meeting was conducted in court, Pragya Thakur for the second time, today in court. She stated: "I did not devote my name to Nathuram Godse, I did not even take the name, yet I am sorry to everyone who is hurt. During the discussion on the SPG Bill, I did not even call Nathuram Godse a patriot, I did not even take a name, I am sorry for hurting anyone."
