Mumbai: Six trains were cancelled and three were diverted in Mumbai due to heavy rainfall and waterlogging, said Central Railway on Sunday.

The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in various parts of Maharashtra.

The cancelled trains are -- Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai Intercity Express, Mumbai-Hyderabad Hussain Sagar Express, Hyderabad- Mumbai Hussain Sagar Express, Mumbai-Hyderabad Express, Hazur Sahib Nanded-Panvel Express and Panvel-Hazur Sahib Nanded Express.

Meanwhile, the diverted trains are: Jaipur-Pune Superfast Express which was diverted via Vasai Road-Panvel-Karjat, Secunderabad-Rajkot Express JCO 27.7.2019 diverted via Daund-Manmad-Jalgaon-Surat and Pune-Hazrat Nizamuddin Darshan Express was diverted via Daund-Manmad-Jalgaon-Surat.

Rail traffic has been suspended on Darbhanga-Samastipur section in Bihar on account of floods, resulting in cancellation, short termination and diversion of more than a dozen trains on Sunday, the East Central Railway headquarters here said.

"At bridge no. 16 near Hayaghat section in Samastipur-Darbhanga section, water level has crossed the danger mark.

Hence, train movement is being suspended on this section," ECR Chief Public Relations Officer Rajesh Kumar said in a statement.

He said, this has led to cancellation of four passenger trains, in addition to the Jaynagar-Patna Intercity Express.

Eight mail/express trains and three passenger trains are also being short terminated, he added.
