Ex-Afghan Info Minister Saadat now delivers pizza in Germany
Sadat also holds two master’s degrees in communications and electronic engineering from Oxford University
Syed Ahmad Shah Saadat, the former Afghan information minister, was recently clicked on the streets of Germany.
A year after he left office, Saadat has now reportedly taken up a job as a driver for a delivery service in Leipzig and was on his way to deliver pizza when he was captured on camera by a local journalist.
Photos of Syed Ahmad Shah Saadat showing him as a delivery man went viral on social media on Wednesday. Some of the images posted by Al Jazeera Arabia and other local media showed Syed Ahmad Shah delivering pizza on his bicycle in Leipzig, Germany.
A German journalist claimed to have spotted Syed Ahmad Shah Saadat on the streets while the latter was delivering pizzas on a bicycle.
In a tweet, the journalist said, "A few days ago, I met a man who claimed to have been the Afghan communications minister for two years ago. I asked what he was doing in Leipzig.
"I'm driving out of Essen for Lieferando" [the man told the jounalist]". Lieferando provides food delivery services in Germany.
Syed Ahmad Shah Sadat reportedly spoke with Sky News Arabia and confirmed that the photographs circulating on social media were his.
Syed Ahmad Shah Saadat had joined Ashraf Ghani-led Afghan government as a cabinet minister in 2018. He had served for two years as the Afghanistan information and technology minister and later resigned in 2020. He then reportedly arrived in Germany in December last year.
Sadat also holds two master's degrees in communications and electronic engineering from Oxford University, the Hindustan Times reported.
Syed Ahmad Shah Saadat's photos were doing rounds at a time when Afghanistan is going through one of its worst crises. Chaos has engulfed Afghanistan since the Taliban took the country under its control a week ago.
When asked to speak about the development in Afghanistan, Syed Ahmad Shah Saadat told media, "The fall of the Ashraf Ghani government so quickly, was not expected."
