US President Donald Trump has promised to donate ventilators to India and has also stated that both countries would be working together on a vaccine against COVID-19. In a tweet posted on Friday, President Trump said that the US stands with India and PM Modi during this pandemic. He added that "we're also cooperating on vaccine development. Together we will beat the invisible enemy!"

President Trump's decision marks a reciprocal gesture following India's lifting of restrictions to export the antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine. President Trump had strongly advocated the use of hydroxychloroquine in the fight against COVID-19.

In his media interaction earlier, President Trump observed that he valued Indian Americans as great scientists and researchers who are contributing to the development of a vaccine against the novel coronavirus.

President Trump added that the US is working very closely with India as well, referring to vaccine development. Donald Trump described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a "very good friend." He also referred to his recent visit to India.

President Donald Trump is counting on the support of a sizeable number of Indian-Americans in his bid to get re-elected for a second term in the White House.
