Narayana recalls 85-year-old Amir’s decades-long commitment to CPI
Hanumakonda: CPI leader Dr. K. Narayana said the lifelong dedication of ordinary workers fighting for the poor and working class continues to inspire him in the communist movement.
Narayana recalled meeting 85-year-old Comrade K. Amir of Maharashtra at a CPI public meeting at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on September 1. Amir has been associated with the CPI since 1960.
Narayana said Amir told him that, as a poor worker and political activist, he remained with the CPI because it spoke for people like him. Amir travelled to Delhi at his own expense and donated whatever he could to the party. Narayana said Amir sought neither power nor personal gain. Such selfless comrades, he said, are the real strength of the communist movement and inspire activists to continue the struggle for a just and equal society and a better future.
