Weather not so conducive for morning walkers in Visakhapatnam City of Destiny
- Visakhapatnam Weather: Those having respiratory ailments should refrain from morning walk as weather is not conducive for them
- Temperatures are expected to drop further in the coming days
Visakhapatnam: The atmosphere for the morning walkers, especially those suffering from lung-related problems and respiratory ailments, seems to be not-so-conducive.
With atmospheric inversion that takes place when the temperature drops, experts suggest that those having respiratory ailments should refrain from morning walk.
Comparatively, low temperatures are being recorded in Visakhapatnam in recent past. Weather forecasters say that it is likely to go further down by two-three degrees in the days to come. On December 23 and 24, 13.8 degree Celsius was recorded in the city. Similarly, on December 25 and 26, the temperature registered 16.2 and 16.4 degree Celsius respectively. Normally, December and January months are considered peak winter seasons across the country. However, this year, the temperature is fluctuating with each passing day.
The reason for the variation in the weather condition is attributed towards wind moving from Europe via Rajasthan.
Experts say that high pressure is a common phenomenon during winter season. "Winds passing from Siberia have the tendency to travel a little above the ground level. They come in contact with the high pressure. As a result, pollutants thus emitted form like a blanket in the wee hours of the day. When it gets blended with the atmosphere, the temperature normally comes down. But because of the atmospheric inversion, the temperature is rising as the wind goes up," explains OSRU Bhanu Kumar, weather expert and retired Professor from the Department of Meteorology and Oceanography, Andhra University.
"Vehicle pollution and industrial pollution refuse migrating due to the present inversion condition. Since they remain at ground level for hours long, experts say that those having lung infection will get affected while inhaling such polluted air," elaborates Bhanu Kumar.
With the temperatures in New Delhi likely to drop further and it is expected to record minus degree very soon. Similarly, even in AP, the temperature is expected to go down further by two-three degrees.
As the pollution level continues to rise because of the blanket phenomenon, experts warn against preferring morning walk as they say it is not safe to inhale the pollutants emitted during the day.
