Visakhapatnam: If you are having differences with your husband or if a friend-turned-foe is trying to trouble you or if you are getting harassed at your workplace, the Women in Need (WIN) forum intends to resolve them, ensuring complete confidentiality.

The first-of-its-kind facility, initiated and incubated by the police department and operated by the district authorities, aims at making women comfortable to air their grievances and get them sorted out.

Speaking to The Hans India, City Commissioner of Police Manish Kumar Sinha says, "The idea is to address the gap between identifying problems that have not gone wrong and are likely to turn so. Since women are not comfortable to approach a police station and file a complaint, this forum intends to sort out the issue before it turns into criminal in nature."

Moulding things to suit societal needs, the CP says, WIN will aid in addressing issues faced by women through diverse interventions before they become victimised. "Once the forum is incubated, the police will withdraw from the platform," clarifies the City Police Commissioner.

With officials from the Department of Women and Child Development (WCD), GVMC, a lady psychologist, counsellors, among others, the platform helps in placing a check on various challenges faced by women before they get intensified.

Those who do not wish to get apparently noticed while approaching the forum can connect through the mail id: [email protected].

The facility will remain open at room number:15, Swarna Bharathi Indoor Stadium on every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 am to 1 pm.
