Medical camp for auto-drivers, their families

Visakhapatnam: Keeping the welfare of auto-rickshaw drivers and their family members in view, Visakhapatnam City Police organised a comprehensive medical camp here on Sunday. City Police Commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi inaugurated the medical camp aimed at improving the physical and mental well-being of auto-rickshaw drivers and helping them reduce road accidents caused by health-related issues.

Auto-rickshaws play a crucial role in Visakhapatnam city’s public transport system. Sri Sathya Sai Trust for Universal Welfare – Sri Sathya Sai Divyamurtham, in collaboration with the Visakhapatnam City Security Council (VCSC) and GITAM Hospital, organised the free mega medical camp for 167 drivers and their family members.

The camp was held at the Temple of Learning in the Police Barracks. A wide range of medical services and health screenings were provided free of cost to the participants. The services offered included general medical examinations, blood pressure and diabetes tests, thyroid screening, eye examinations, dental check-ups and oral cancer screening.

Specialised services in gynecology, breast and cervical cancer screenings, orthopedics, pediatrics, general surgery, psychiatry and counselling were also provided. The camp offered PSA tests for men, CA-125 tests for women, free medical advice and medicines for 10 days. HPV vaccination services were also made available at the venue.

The programme was attended by Annepu Narasimha Murthy, ADCP (Traffic), Divya Reddy, ACP Traffic (Zone-I), M Srinu, Inspector of Police, East Traffic Circle-I, along with representatives of the Sri Sathya Sai Trust, VCSC and GITAM Hospital.
