Visakhapatnam: In a remarkable achievement in glaucoma care, the Sankar Foundation glaucoma team, led by T Raveendra, performed a hydrus micro stent implantation, on a patient.
The hydrus micro stent is a minimally Invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) device designed to improve aqueous humor outflow through Schlemm’s canal, ensuring sustained control of intraocular pressure while minimising surgical trauma. This breakthrough technology offers a safer and more effective treatment option for glaucoma patients, reducing complications and promoting faster recovery. The successful implantation reflects the hospital’s commitment to bringing globally-advanced ophthalmic technologies to the region. The procedure was completed with the support of doctors K Manjuvalli, B Keerthana and Raveendra. Congratulating the medical team, M Ramdas, chairman, board of trustees and A. Krishna Kumar, managing trustee and CEO of the foundation, hailed the achievement as a testament to the institution’s unwavering pursuit of clinical excellence, innovation, and leadership in eye care.
