Guntakal (Anantapur): Students Federation of India (SFI) district unit took out a huge rally here on Tuesday as part of its second day convention on education reforms.

SFI State president Prasanna Kumar participated in the rally from Bhagath Singh statue which culminated at Gandhi circle and addressed a public meeting at Ajantha circle.

Addressing the participants, Prasanna Kumar demanded scrapping of the Union government’s new education policy on the premise of its saffronisation and creating divisions in the name of caste and religion.

Soon after the YSRCP formed the government in the State, in the name of rationalisation, classes 3, 4 and 5 were integrated on the basis of student-teacher strength ratio.

He criticised that high school and primary school hostels lacked quality food, drinking water and toilet amenities in the SC, ST, BC hostels. For intermediate students, even after three months of reopening of schools, books were not supplied to students.

The government has not yet released mess and cosmetic charges to hostel students, he added.

SFI district secretary Paramesh and State committee member Ramesh and others participated in the rally.
