Krishna district stands second in MNREGS works

Vijayawada: Krishna district stood second in the State in implementation of MNREGS works and reached the target of one crore work days, said district Collector Md Imtiaz on Friday.

He conducted a meeting with the officials at the farmers training centre at the Irrigation office and discussed the progress of Nadu-Nedu works and MNREGS works. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said the district can get funds under the material component from the government, if the allotted work days are completed.

He said Rytu Bharosa centres, village and ward secretariats, YSR Health centres and other buildings and offices can be built under the NREGS scheme. He said the district achieved the second place in implementation of NREGS due to the collective efforts of the staff and the officials and suggested the engineering officials to use the modern technology to achieve better targets.

Referring to drinking water supply, the Collector said under the Rural Water Supply Scheme drinking water will be supplied to all government offices through the pipelines. He said Anganwadi centres, community health centres, hospitals, government offices will get drinking water and asked the mandal parishad development officers to prepare the action plan.

He said 850 vehicles will be arranged for supply of essential commodities and 850 youth will get employment.

Joint Collector L Siva Sankar said Rs238 crore is being spent for the development of infrastructure facilities in 1155 schools in Krishna district. He asked the officials to complete the compound walls of the 198 schools being constructed.
