APCPDCL aims quality, 24x7 power supply

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APCPDCL) chairman and managing director P Pulla Reddy directed officials to take all necessary measures to ensure quality and uninterrupted power supply to consumers.

He conducted a comprehensive review meeting with chief general managers, general managers, superintending engineers, executive engineers and other senior officials at Vidyut Nilayam in Vijayawada on Saturday.

The CMD reviewed power supply reliability, consumer grievance redressal, revenue collection, reduction of line losses, prevention of power theft, electrical safety, maintenance of distribution transformers and power lines, monsoon preparedness, substation and feeder performance, power interruptions and peak demand management.

Pulla Reddy instructed officials to respond immediately to power interruptions and resolve consumer complaints within the stipulated time. He stressed the need for stronger field-level supervision and preventive maintenance to identify potential defects in the distribution network before they cause disruptions.

He directed officials to identify frequently tripping feeders, overloaded transformers and vulnerable power lines and take advance corrective measures. In view of rising demand, he called for load balancing, augmentation of system capacity and timely maintenance of transformers in high-load areas.

The CMD also reviewed the progress of PM Surya Ghar–Muft Bijli Yojana, the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), substation construction and feeder strengthening works, and directed officials to complete them within the stipulated timelines while maintaining prescribed quality standards.

Reviewing digital consumer services, he said applications for new electricity connections could now be submitted through the 1912 service, APCPDCL website and mobile application, eliminating the need to visit Mee Seva centres. He asked officials to create awareness about the facility across the NTR Circle.

Pulla Reddy also reviewed preparedness to deal with weather-related contingencies and stressed strict adherence to electrical safety norms. He called for public awareness campaigns on the dangers of fallen power lines, waterlogged electrical equipment, poles and transformers.

He further directed officials to improve revenue collection, reduce technical and commercial losses through feeder-level analysis, prevent power theft and continuously monitor agricultural feeders to ensure reliable supply to farmers.
