Tirupati: Job scheme works will change the face of villages says Peddireddy

Tirupati: Panchayat raj and rural development minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy reiterated the government's commitment to change the face of villages by initiating various developmental works. Speaking to the media along with Deputy Chief Minister K Narayana Swamy after a review meeting with officials on the MGNREGS (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme) works here on Monday, Ramachandra Reddy said that the construction of Rythu Bharosa Kendras, wellness centres, bulk milk cooling units and other works would be completed by March 2021.
Elaborating the works being taken up, he said that the Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had directed allocation of Rs 10 crore to each Assembly constituency for these works. If these works are completed early, another Rs 5 crore will be allocated to each district for developmental works. Saying that the progress of construction works in the district was satisfactory, he said that the aim is to get first place in the state in completing them.
The minister revealed that the bills below Rs 5 lakh for the works taken up during the previous government would be cleared soon. However, the payments would be made for those bills having cleared in the vigilance inquiry.
Stating that out of 1,012 village secretariats in Chittoor district, only 283 were completed so far, he asked the engineering officials to focus on the issue to see that the remaining works be completed before the deadline. Similarly, out of 932 Rythu Bharosa Kendras, only 336 have been completed.
The minister described YSR Jala Kala as a gift to the farming community and these works were to be completed soon. The bore wells allotted to each constituency have to be drilled immediately under this scheme.
District collector Dr N Bharat Gupta explained that under MGNREGA, 1.61 crore working days were provided in the district so far by spending Rs 180 crore. RDO V Kanaka Narasa Reddy, MGNREGA director Chinatataiah, council member Viswanath, District Water Management Agency project director Chandrasekhar and other officials also took part.
