Tirupati: AP State Legislative Council Committee on Development of Telugu Language and Culture led by its Chairman Mohammed Ahmed Shariff visited Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) on Wednesday. Vice Chancellor Prof D Jamuna presented the university progress since its inception to the committee members. She sought the committee's cooperation in bringing all women's colleges under SPMVV's purview as its affiliated colleges.

Prof K Madhu Jyothi of Telugu department told the committee that the students of classes 9 and 10 and Intermediate are being taught only Sanskrit and there is no importance for Telugu language.

If Telugu language can be safeguarded at school education level, the language will last forever, she opined. Registrar Prof D M Mamatha and other faculty, committee members B Venkateswara Rao, K Narasimha Reddy, P V N Madhav and others were present on the occasion.
