Raj ACB arrests forest guard, ASI in separate graft cases
Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested a forest guard in Banswara and an assistant sub-inspector of police in Jaipur in separate cases of graft, officials said. In Banswara, forest guard Bhupesh Patidar, posted at Garhi forest range, was allegedly caught red-handed accepting Rs 5,000 from a complainant for processing a forest land lease file. The complainant has been cultivating land on the outskirts of the Forest Department’s area for a long time.
The process for verification and preparation of a lease file was pending. Patidar allegedly demanded Rs 6,000 for forwarding the file and providing it to the complainant. During verification of the complaint, he agreed to accept Rs 5,000, the ACB said.
After verification, a team laid a trap and arrested Patidar while allegedly accepting the money. In a separate action in Jaipur, the ACB arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector Mahesh Chand Meena, posted at Sanganer Sadar police station, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
The ACB said Meena was the investigating officer in a case and had allegedly demanded money for releasing a pickup vehicle belonging to the complainant’s uncle and for not making another person an accused in the case. Both accused are being questioned and separate cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act are being registered, the officials said.
