VSU officials paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi in Nellore on Friday
Nellore: Officials machinery and political leaders observed the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi here on Friday. Nellore Mayor Devarakonda Sujatha, political leaders and representatives of social organisations garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi located at Gandhi Bomma Center and paid floral tributes.
YSR Congress Party has observed the event at its party office in the city.
Joint Collector Mogili Venkateswarlu along with collectorate staff garlanded Gandhi statue at the Collectorate and paid tributes. He stressed the need of adopting Gandhian philosophy to promote integrity and sovereignty of the nation.
Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) Vice-Chancellor Allam Srinivasa Rao garlanded the statues of Mahatma Gandhi and former PM Lal Bahadur Shastri and paid tributes. He said that Mahatma Gandhi had set an example to the world by following the principles of truth, non-violence and peace. He said Lal Bahadur Shastri stood as a symbol of simplicity, honesty, discipline and patriotism. His dedication to the nation and spirit of service continue to inspire the younger generation.
University College Principal Prof T Veera Reddy, Engineering College Director Prof CH Vijaya, College Principal Dr G Vijayalakshmi, Controller of Examinations Dr R Madhumathi and others were present.
