Nellore: Minister for Education and IT Nara Lokesh inaugurated two renovated government schools – Rebala Sundararama Reddy (RSR) High School and Devireddy Sarada High School in Nellore on Wednesday.

Devireddy Sarada High School in Mulapet was renovated by Hyderabad-based DSR Group with Rs 13.34 crore from its corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds.

RSR High School at Stonehousepet was renovated with Rs 8.3 crore funded by VPR Foundation of Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakara Reddy. The two-storied school building has 43 classrooms equipped with LED screens and modern benches to facilitate digital learning. It has computer, robotics, astronomy, physics, chemistry and biology laboratories, and special rooms for art, music, dance, and languages with all infrastructure facilities.

Later, the Minister inspected classrooms, laboratories and dining hall and interacted with students. He advised them to concentrate on studies and bring good name to school and parents.

Lokesh reviewed the performance of schools with headmasters and staff and expressed displeasure over enrollment. The school management informed him that RSR School has registered 60.19 per cent in SSC examinations last year.

Lauding MP Vemireddy Prabhakara Reddy and DSR group for donating funds for schools’ modernisation, the Minister has directed officials concerned to work towards achieving 100 per cent enrollment in government schools, stressing that the government is investing crores of rupees to provide quality education to students from poor families. He also appealed parents to admit their children in government schools, which have qualified teaching staff and all necessary infrastructure facilities.

MP Vemireddy, Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana, MLAs Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy and Inturi Nageswara Rao, Narayana Educational Institutions Director P Sharani and others attended the programme.

Earlier, TDP leaders and activists gave a grand welcome by bursting firecrackers to Minister Lokesh in Nellore.
