Karimnagar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Karimnagar on October 4 to attend the silver jubilee celebrations of Prathima Medical College, marking 25 years of the institution. He will also lay the foundation stone for the proposed Prathima Deemed University building.

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday reviewed arrangements at the campus, meeting Police Commissioner Gaush Alam and representatives of the Prathima management to assess security and other preparations.

Accompanied by Mayor Kolagani Srinivas, Deputy Mayor Sunil Rao, BJP district president Saini Mallesham, Prathima management representatives Boinipally Srinivasa Rao and Chennamaneni Vikas Rao, and Karimnagar Parliament constituency convenor Boinipally Praveen Rao, Bandi Sanjay inspected the helipad and key venues.

He reviewed arrangements for the commemorative pylon unveiling, foundation stone-laying ceremony, photo exhibition and the gathering where Shah will interact with students.

Speaking to the media, Bandi Sanjay recalled that the medical college was inaugurated 25 years ago by then Union Home Minister LK Advani, then undivided Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and then Union Minister of State for Home Affairs CH Vidyasagar Rao.

He said Shah’s participation in the silver jubilee celebrations was a matter of satisfaction. The Union Home Minister will unveil the commemorative pylon, lay the foundation stone for the deemed university building, inaugurate the photo exhibition and address students, he said.

As per the itinerary, Shah will arrive at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad at 9 pm on October 3 and stay at the Grand Kakatiya Hotel. At 11 am on October 4, he will fly by helicopter to Toopran in Medak district to attend the inauguration of works related to the Sabar Dairy Products milk plant.

After lunch at the Urja Industrial Park, he will leave Toopran at 2 pm for Karimnagar. Following the Prathima Medical College celebrations, he is scheduled to return to Hyderabad by helicopter at 4.30 pm.
