Bandlaguda: A mother of six persons who are stranded in UAE due to lack of any documents has sought help of Dr Subramanyam Jaishankar, Union Minister of External Affairs, to help rescue at least one of her sons who landed in a Dubai jail for his failure to provide proof of his citizenship there. She implored the Indian authorities to provide necessary documents as she is ready to undergo DNA for son's return to India.

As per a letter submitted to the Minister on August 10, Fatima, a resident of Bandlaguda, was married to one UAE national, an octogenarian, when she was just 15 years old. After he died within three years of marriage, she was married to Mohammed Ashraf Din Mohammed, who was working in UAE Army, and continued her marital life with him for 25 years.

"Since my husband was having another wife, under her pressure I was kept in a solitary confinement and was not allowed to go anywhere out of my house nor was allowed to meet any of my relatives there. Even my children were not allowed to go out anywhere even during medical emergencies and were not even allowed to go to school," she explained her ordeal.

After prolonged illness, her second husband died in 2004, but his second wife made sure that the family did not share his name and threw the family out from the house. "I spent many years on help provided by my relatives and others in UAE. I approached the Indian authorities for help and through them I returned to Hyderabad in 2013," she disclosed.

But on June 20, 2018, Mohammed Sami, her 30-year-old son, was arrested by local police and later lodged in Ajman Jail as he could not establish his nationality. "Since last one year, the UAE authorities wanted to deport him to India.

As he is not having any documents to show him as my son, he continues to languish in jail. I wanted to go to UAE to rescue my son but could not travel as I have been banned to travel to UAE. I will be thankful to you if you kindly ask the Indian authorities in UAE to have a DNA test of me and my son to establish him as my son and bring him to India," she added.
