Bahadurpura: Glaring absence of TS Wakf Board CEO Shahnawaz Qasim at the meeting of Eidgah Mir Alam drew flak from local MLA Moazam Khan, who found it to be 'irresponsible behaviour,' when officials of all other departments were present at the meeting. Even though the officials visited the place, they left without taking part in review of arrangements at the Eidgah.

The MLA also said that each year the annual meeting is attended by all the officials from different departments, including TSWB, GHMC, police, TSSPDCL, HMWSSB and other related departments. But found that the absence of CEO of TSWB in the meeting does not suit the code of behaviour. "He just came and went within 2 min," he quipped. While registering his protest, the MLA questioned as to why the Chairman of Wakf Board ensured his presence in the meeting.

With less than 10 days for the completion of Ramzan, the authorities are making all the arrangements for ensuring devout take part hitch-free in prayers on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr marking the end of the holy month. Considered to be historic and the biggest Eidgah, Mir Alam Eidgah, in Bahadurpura is being spruced up for the endeavour. Located near the Zoo at Tadbun area under Bahadurpura and having a provision of about 2 lakh devout to offer prayers, it remains amongst the top priorities of the authorities.

As part of ensuring all kinds of arrangements, an official meeting was held on Monday, in which Telangana State Waqf Board Chairman Md Saleem, Bahadurpura MLA Mohd Moazam Khan, Traffic DCP K Babu Rao and the officials from GHMC, TSSPDCL, HMWSSB and police officials reviewed the arrangements for the upcoming prayer Eid-ul Fitr at Mir Alam Eidgah in Bahadurpura.

During inspection, Saleem and Moazam Khan instructed the GHMC, TSSPDCL, HMWSSB officials to complete their works in time. Later, speaking to media, Moazam Khan said that like each year, this year also the arrangements of the Mir Alam Eidgah are going on. He requested the Waqf Board Chairman to install more temporary shades this year, as thousands of devotees offer Eid prayer in Mir Alam Eidgah.

He said that since the climate could remain hot even in early mornings, the devotees should not suffer due to improper arrangements. Badurpura Corporator Mohammed Mubeen, GHMC Deputy Commissioner (Falaknuma) B Suman Rao, AMOH Dr Padma and other officials were present on the occasion.
