Chikkadpally: Varuna Yagam was performed in Anjaneya Swamy temple located at Viveka Nagar, Chikkadpally seeking copious rains in the state, on Thursday. As part of the yagam, 'Shivabhishekams' and 'homams' were performed in the temple.

Speaking on the occasion, chief priest of the temple said that 'Varuna Yagam' was performed in the temple wishing copious rains in the state as Hindu holy texts say that performing such rites would create conducive atmosphere for rains. It has been one month since the rainy season began but there are not enough rains in the state, he said. Hence, Varuna Yagam was performed amidst homams and vedic chanting, the organisers said.

Temple trust chairman C Bhaskar Yadav, temple EO Hemanth Kumar, temple trustee members M Padma, local corporator Muta Padma Naresh, TRS leaders Muta Jaisimha, M Prabhakar, Shyam Mudhiraj, C Vamshi, Suryaprakash, Prashant Kumar, Vasudev, a large number of devotees and others participated in the religious programme.
