Asif Nagar: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) is setting up modular treatment plants to treat raw water to ensure effective supply.

The Board is setting up two such plants on a conduit between Osmansagar to Asif Nagar treatment plant for treating the raw water and this can help in ensuring effective supply of Manikonda, Puppalguda and nearby areas.

Unlike the conventional treatment plants, modular treatment plants can be set up quickly with a cost of Rs 75 lakh which follow the same treatment procedures but at a lower level and the water treated from them will be supplied for local areas.

"Every day we are drawing almost 80 to 90 MGD of water from Osmansagar and directed to the treatment plant. 2 to 3MLD water drawn from Osmansagar will be sent to these plants to treat and supply local areas," said Praveen Kumar, Director (Technical) HMWSSB.
