TG has turned real estate venture for Revanth: BJP

Hyderabad: The Telangana BJP on Saturday staged a massive “Maha Dharna” protesting the inclusion of farmers’ and private lands in the prohibited properties list under Section 22-A and demanding an immediate judicial inquiry by a sitting High Court judge.

Mounting a vitriolic attack on the Congress government, they called it reducing the state to “Revanth Reddy-Rahul Gandhi Private Limited Real Estate Company” through its controversial Section 22A land scam.

Union Minister G Kishan Reddy said that Telangana has been turned into a tribute-paying real estate company and alleged Congress blocked lakhs of acres of land belonging to farmers, people with low incomes, and the middle class under Section 22A.

He charged that properties with valid documents, as well as those designated as public amenities like parks and community halls, have also been placed on the prohibited list. “It was only to facilitate a massive land scam,” he alleged.

Kishan Reddy further accused the government of selling lands belonging to central institutions like the University of Hyderabad, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Urdu University, State Bank of India, the Endowments department, and others, turning the financial health of the state to ruins.

Turning to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the Union Minister said, “From morning to night, CM Revanth Reddy’s focus is on which land to sell next,” and condemned, alleging that public funds have been diverted to Delhi as a tribute. Kishan Reddy said that about 60 lakh acres of land belonging to the ordinary people have been placed under Section 22A to terrorise them. Besides, he said the police suppress dissent using house arrests and illegal detentions against the protesters. He vowed that every act of omission and commission would be accounted for when the BJP comes to power in Telangana.

State BJP Chief N Ramachander Rao accused the state government of inflicting severe hardships on the farmers and the middle class in the state by trampling upon their rights. The state’s revenue system has collapsed. He claimed that while it was 15 per cent under the BRS regime, it has gone up to 30 per cent under the current Congress regime. He said that the district collectors and other revenue officials have been ignoring farmers’ grievances, and that about 50 lakh people are unable to sell their land or secure loans to meet their children’s marriage expenses. He demanded a judicial inquiry by a sitting High Court judge and warned: “We will fight from the streets to the Assembly until every inch illegally kept under the prohibited list is freed.”

BJP MPs, MLAs, MLCs have listed out the number of lands in their respect areas listed under the prohibited list.
