Telangana State Minorities Commission inspects land grab at cemetery

Hyderabad: The members of Telangana State Minorities Commission (TSMC), led by its Chairman Mohammed Qamaruddin, visited Parsi's graveyard located in Kanteshwar Village in Nizamabad district on Friday.

According to a press release here on Friday, the members of the Commission, Shankar Luke, Gusti Noria, Sardar Surender Singh, along with MA Khadeer Siddiqui Legal Advisor, Omim Manikshaw Debara, Trustee Parsi, Zoroastrian Anjuman visited the site. Local officials Mohd Riyaz, DMWO (Nizamabad), Revenue and Police officials and the members of community accompanied them.

The committee found that this Parsi graveyard has been reduced to 11 guntas of land, while the remaining 1.28 acres of land has been occupied by the "unauthorized persons." The Chairman TSMC instructed the Deputy Tahsildar, Kanteshwar to conduct inquiry and to submit a report under what authority the unauthorized person has come into possession and accrued title over the Parsi's land.

The Deputy tahsildar assured that he would appraise the facts to the tahsildar and would send report within a week. Later, the team also visited residential schools being run under by TMREIS (Telangana State Residential Educational Institutions Society) and expressed satisfaction over their functioning.

The chairman of the commission also inquired about the progress made on various developmental activities of Minorities Welfare Department in Nizamabad, such as overseas scholarships, Shaadi-Mubarak schemes, economic support and training programmes.

He also received representations from local public about the implementation of Urdu as 2nd language, the construction of building for relocation of Urdu medium schools and sanction of girls college (Urdu Medium) at Malapally of Nizamabad.
