Hyderabad: Sudden rains lashed the state capital on Sunday, unleashing their fury on the western and the northern areas. Areas like Kukatpally and Quthbullapur received more than 90 mm rainfall.

As per the reports from Telangana Development and Planning Society, areas in Kukatpally like Jagadgirigutta, Shamshiguda, and Hydernagar received around 65 to 95.8 mm rainfall whereas areas in Quthbullapur like Gajularamaram, Jeedimetla, Shapur Nagar and Subhash Nagar received around 70 to 90 mm rainfall.

Roads, apart from low-lying areas, were inundated and commuters were caught unawares stranded as the evening traffic came to a standstill in many areas. Musheerabad, Amberpet, LB Nagar, Nagole, Champapet, Malakpet, Dilsukhnagar, Bandlaguda, Saidabad, Vanastalipuram, Saroorngarr, Begumpet and other areas also witnessed downpour. Several two-wheelers were washed away near Sundarayya Park.

The Met department has warned of thunderstorm/lightning likely to occur at isolated places across Telangana on Monday. It has also warned of heavy rains likely to occur at isolated places in the State on October 8 and 9.
