Rasoolpura in sorry state as govt looks other way

Rasoolpura: There is a Metro Rail Station nearby, the Secunderabad Railway Station is a stone's throw and Raj Bhavan a few km away, but Rasoolpura remains a picture of neglect. For the 30,000 families, mostly daily wage labourers, maids, painters, auto drivers and plumbers, life is a struggle without basic amenities.

The lack of a proper drainage system has resulted in open nalas and people wade through them and enter their houses. Pigs and dogs are bountiful, feeding on the garbage that is strewn all over the place.

The PHC does not have enough medical staff and the even after consultation, patients need to purchase medicines from outside and the condition of the government school is no better due to shortage of staff and basic amenities like water.

More than 750 students studying in the Government Primary and High School, Rasoolpura, are studying in difficult circumstances. There are no benches, no drinking water facility and also the school is not clean. Garbage has accumulated on the school premises and due to the absence of sanitary staff, the trash is not disposed of and releases stench all around.

Residents receive water once in 5 days. The population of this area is more than 1.5 lakhs. Due to damage of the sewage pipeline, water is overflowing onto the road. During monsoon, the condition is worse and the lane is covered with layers of sandy subsoil.

As a community hall was constructed for the marginalised people but SCB wants people to deposit Rs 10,000 to use the hall. In the last few months, dog menace has increased. Shaik Nayeem, social worker and resident of Rasoolpura says, "SCB officials about this issue, they also give us false hopes that they would solve the issue but till today no action is taken."
