Qutbullapur: One of the major issues facing the residents of Qutbullapur constituency is roads. Several areas including Chintal, Ganesh Nagar, Shapur, IDPL, Venkateshwara Nagar, Vani Nagar and Berappa Nagar do not have proper roads. One of the 24 constituencies of GHMC, Qutbullapur is thickly populated and several colonies are coming up with new apartments and villas coming up, but residents rue the lack of proper roads. Pothole-ridden roads, coupled with poor illumination, are leading to accidents every other day.
Roads in IDPL pose severe threat
The stretch from Balanagar to Shobhana and Balanagar to IDPL is so bad that the commuting time has tripled in the last few months. Thanks to the ill-maintained roads, vehicles move at a snail's pace. Accidents are a common feature on this stretch. The streetlights are dysfunctional adding to the woes.
Dug-up roads plague Modi Galli
In the constituency, Chintal has the most number of schools and colleges. It is one of the busiest junctions but sue to the bad condition of roads, school-going children and others are inconvenienced. Line departments dig up roads but do not cover them resulting in water logging.
Sewage overflows at Subhash Nagar
The residents of Subhash Nagar near Shivalayam temple are suffering due to serious overflow of sewage water which has been causing unpleasantness to the people travelling in this area. Sridhar, a local said, "The sewerage water has been flowing into the road for the past few weeks and also poses a problem to the passersby and due extensive water logging mosquito menace has increased."
Vani Nagar wonder where the road is
Calling it a road would be a misnomer. The whole stretch is a mud pool and the slightest rain is enough to bring the traffic to a grinding halt. The roads were dug up for laying pipelines have been left uncovered. "There is a need to lay a new road and this has to be done as soon as possible," said Yashwant, a resident.
