Secunderabad: City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar on Thursday held a review meeting with officials in connection with the Ganesh Utsav celebrations and the immersion of idols in the twin cities.

The commissioner suggested that special care should be taken while transporting vehicles that bring idols to Tank Bund for immersion. Caution should be observed in transporting huge idols to ensure that there is no damage, the commissioner stressed. There is no permission for DJs during the festival or immersion, he said.

Anjani Kumar wanted huge idols to be diverted via flyovers and railway tracks. He said gathering of crowds near Tank Bund should be avoided and that the idols should be taken for immersion in local tanks.

Additional Commissioners Anil Kumar (Traffic) and Shika Goel, among others, made suitable suggestions on fool-proof immersion arrangements. They called for effective security to avoid untoward incidents during 'Nimajjanam'.
