Poor sanitation in ZP Schools in Kapra Circle
The students of Zilla Parishad High Schools that come under Kapra circle are facing sanitation problems due to lack of cleanliness and basic facilities.
Kapra: The students of Zilla Parishad High Schools that come under Kapra circle are facing sanitation problems due to lack of cleanliness and basic facilities. The lack of proper maintenance is one of the reasons for students not being able to use the toilets. The ratio of washrooms in proportion to the number of students is also very less.
A few girl students from these ZPHS informed about the poor sanitation facilities in their schools. They said many a times the girls did not feel to use the washrooms because of the lack of cleanliness and no proper water facilities in the washrooms.
There is always an unpleasant smell due to which they hesitate to enter the washrooms. These girls also said that several times they had to control themselves till the school ends due to the improper condition of the washrooms. There are few washrooms in these schools which do not have proper doors, which lead to avoiding the use of toilets by the students.
Speaking to the Hans India, K Rupa, social teacher of ZPHS Rampally, said, "There are 302 girls in our college and only 4 out of 6 washrooms are properly working and usable for students. The other washrooms are under repair from a long time.
There is only one lady worker who is allotted to clean the washrooms of both boys and girls, which in no doubt is very difficult for her to clean the washrooms on a regular basis. There are no proper facilities for the girls for the disposal of the sanitary napkins as well."
The Zilla Parishad High School in Jawahar nagar of Kapra circle has strength of 854 students out of which 456 students are girls. Speaking to the Hans India, K Malathi, school assistant of ZPHS Jawahar Nagar said, "There are only 4 washrooms that is allotted to the girls.
There is lack of cleanliness in these washrooms. Apart from cleanliness, the conditions of washrooms are worst. There are no proper water facilities in these washrooms."
Zilla Parishad High School, Balaji nagar is the fourth Zilla Parishad High School that comes under the Kapra Circle with a strength of 686 students. Out of these, 335 students are girls.
Speaking to the Hans India, D Narsimha, Headmaster of ZPHS, Balaji, Nagar said, "There are 2 washrooms allotted for the girls and another 2 washrooms are for repair."
Parvathi, a class IX student of Zilla Parishad High School, Balaji Nagar said, "The washrooms are not cleaned for many days. It is difficult for us to use these washrooms. There are very less number of washrooms that is available to us. We have to think twice before going to the washrooms. There is no proper sanitation facilities provided which is causing a lot of inconvenience for us."
