Malakpet: In view of Bakrid (Eid-ul-Azha), the corporators in Old City along with GHMC workers carried out field work to ensure that the devout do not face difficulties on the day of the festival. Besides temporary relief from damaged roads following recent rains, some of the corporators were seen supervising other civic works like clearing off the sewerage clogging points in their jurisdiction.
For the last 3-4 days, the works were in full swing as corporators were trying their best to complete all pending works before Eid. Corporators of Santosh Nagar and Kurmaguda, along with local MLA, were seen taking up the pending civic works.
On the instructions of Yakutpura MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri to check the status of pending works in Santosh Nagar, Mohammed Muzaffar Hussain made a 'paidal daura' along with the MLA and instructed the GHMC officials to complete the pending works on time hoping that devotees do not face inconvenience during Eid festivities.
Later, Pasha Quadri, along with Kurmaguda division Corporator Dr Sameena Begum, inspected the works of installing temporary shades in Madannapet Eidgah owing to the prevailing weather conditions and possibility of rains. They instructed the workers to fix and avert any possibility of leakages.
On Saturday, Patterghatti division corporator Syed Sohail Quadriwhile inspecting the area observed that the garbage spilled over on the roads in Devan Dewadi and in vegetable market in Mir Alam Mandi. He immediately made a call to local AMOH and asked him to visit these areas. AMOH Dr Shiva Kumar made a visit and SohailQuadri pointed out at the negligence of garbage lifters in areas.
Later, speaking to the media, Sohail said that residents and shopkeepers have complained about the sanitary wing's failure to lift garbage for the last 3 to 4 days and it was creating unhygienic condition and also causing health issues for the residents. On Sunday, Sohail along with Dr Shiva Kumar and police officials, distributed black bags and asked the residents to use them to clear off animal wastage.
In Talabkatta, corporator Nasreen Sultana inspected the area on Saturday and cleared the sewerage lane by seeking help of HMWSSB's Mini sewer jetting machine at Nasheman Nagar colony. She also ensured that no manhole cover was missing in the area and also instructed the workers to complete all pending works. Later, she distributed garbage bags and appealed to the residents to ensure that cleanliness prevails in the area.
