A city-based NGO, Krishi, set up a library with a digital classroom under Read2Lead project in Mandal Parishad Primary School (MPPS), Miyapur, on Saturday.
Miyapur: A city-based NGO, Krishi, set up a library with a digital classroom under Read2Lead project in Mandal Parishad Primary School (MPPS), Miyapur, on Saturday.
"The library has over 400 books that include fiction, non-fiction, encyclopedia, comics and many more. The key resources provided in the digital class for students of class 1 to 5 include CDs and DVDs to access content offline, learning resources for various subjects in multiple formats (animations, video lectures, presentations)," said V Ravi Shanker, a member of Krishi.
This NGO aims at equipping children with knowledge and skills and helps to build a strong character for all round development on a par with students of private institutions, he added.
This is the first library which has been set up by the NGO and they are planning to set up more libraries in government schools. The NGO was founded in 2005 by Mura Hari to help students of government schools for all round development.
We have selected this school which has around 270 students. A 180 sq ft empty room was renovated and converted into the library within one month. Rs 1.5 lakh was the cost including books, TV and painting of the room. The NGO is run by crowdfunding and also organisations like SHE Dreams and SAHE help.
"Visiting for the first time to the library, Kavya Reddy, a class v student of MPPS, said, "I love reading storybooks. I'm happy that such a facility has come up in our school."
Hima Vijay, Head Mistress of MPS, thanked the NGO for setting up the library and digital classroom for the benefit of students. Various NGOs and government organisations are helping us to run the school, she added.
