Nampally: The Safa Baitul Maal (SBM), the NGO, which has been engaged in providing filtered drinking water at different state-run hospitals has also set up a special camp within Nampally Exhibition Grounds, as part of its efforts to serve patients and their families who have come from far off places to consume fish medicine, offered by Bathini family on June 8 and 9.
For taking fish medicine, thousands of people gathered at Exhibition Grounds, where SBM also has installed a free drinking water camp. This water camp was installed for two days (Saturday and Sunday). According to organizers, about 30,000 litres of water was provided to the public during the fish medicine programme.
Hafez Mohammed Shoeb, in-charge at SBM, said that SBM has been providing filtered drinking water for the last 3 years at fish medicine programme at Exhibition Grounds.
It may be mentioned here that in March, the SBM has started this year's camp for summer at Government Maternity Hospital in Petlaburj and Osmania General Hospital in Afzalgunj, as part of its services.
SBM, which is engaged in providing filtered drinking water at State-run hospitals amongst its other services, has recently installed a water purification plant with a capacity of filtering 1,000 litres per hour at the Osmania General Hospital.
The plant costs about Rs 7 lakh and they also appointed a person to look after it. The SBM also constructed a room for the purpose. According to the representatives of the NGO, the Muslim charitable organization has been engaged in distributing free drinking water in summer at Osmania General Hospital for past several years. The plant now provides pure filtered drinking water free of charge throughout the year.
