Movement for Peace Justice holds meet on prisoners needs
The Movement for Peace Justice (MPJ) which is engaged in providing services like dispute resolution and financial support to poor prisoners who completed their jail term but were unable to pay their penalties, organised its national review meeting at its office in Purani Haveli in Old City on Monday.

The speakers threw emphasis on securing release of maximum number of prisoners after completion of their term, by providing monetary assistance. Since most of the prisoners continue to languish in jail, owing to lack of family support or weak financial condition, they stressed on taking up more such cases where poor prisoners, as also those who ended up in prison for 'wrong reasons,' could be helped.
MPJ state president Md Abdul Aziz said that volunteers from the organisation were coordinating with the jail authorities of Cherlapalli, Chanchalguda and other central prisons. Besides this, he said that MPJ was engaged in counseling of family and property disputes across different cities and towns of the State and was also providing free legal aid to economically weak sections of the society.
He called upon the members of the organisation to take forward the movement for the betterment of the society and educate the masses about the welfare schemes of the government. He demanded that the government extended benefits related to medical and education by coming up with new schemes or streamlining the existing ones.
The programme was attended by MPJ AP president Md Mustafa, Maharashtra president Siraj and Telangana MPJ general secretary Khaja Moinuddin and others. It may be mentioned here that on the eve of National Prisoners Welfare Day (Gandhi Jayanthi) the State MPJ also received a token of appreciation from Metropolitan Sessions Judge, N Tukaramji and Jail authorities of Chanchalguda prison.
