Ramanthapur: In an era where technology is disconnecting personal human relations more than ever, there's a group of friends all above 40 years of age who came together using 'Whats App' as a bridge. The group has organised a get together programme at Ananda Jyothi High School in Ramanthapur on Sunday.

Kurapati Vasundara Devi, a house wife from Bhongir now settled at Shivam in Hyderabad formed a 'Whats App' group 'Manam' to get in touch with her childhood friends. She said that she was born and brought up in a joint family with six siblings including a sister in Jangaon.

"I completed my Intermediate in Jangaon and pursued my degree after marriage. Being an outgoing person, I've been missing my childhood friends since I left my home town. I want to get in touch with everyone. This is how I got the idea of forming a group," the enthusiastic group administrator said.

It's been a year since the group was formed. The group has been extended to new friends as well. A few members of "Alanati Madhura gitalu animutyalu" Whats App group of singers joined 'Manam' group liking the cause of the group.

Vasundara Devi said it took her two months to conduct this programme. She said that she was happy that all the members of the group except two were able to make it to the programme. We've felicitated elders in the group which brought smiles on their faces as it was a surprise to them.

"One thing that's the best in get to gathers is we could know the latent talents among the members. We came to know Ashok Kumar Racha singing talent. Swarna and Upender Reddy are good coordinators of the programme. A five of us including Jaya Sri, Anitha, Uma and Bhagya thought of bearing the cost for the programme. However, others too came forward and contributed their mite.

Even the venue has come from a group member Ashok's friend for free. We also celebrated Rakshabandhan. We played tambola, antyakshari and other sort of games and had lunch together," said an ecstatic Vasundara Vani. On this memorable day, the members of the group passed a resolution to contribute for a social cause which is yet to take a concrete shape.
