Hyderabad: Heavy rain occurred at isolated places in Medchal-Malkajgiri district during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am, the Met department bulletin said on Wednesday. The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) were: Hakimpet IAF station (Medchal-Malkajgiri) 7, Hyderabad & Shadnagar (Ranga Reddy) 2 each, Shamirpet (Medchal-Malkajgiri), Narsapur & Alladurg (both Medak) 1 each.

According to the Met department bulletin, the rain is being caused by the trough at 0.9 km above the mean sea level from north interior Karnataka to the Comorin area which now runs from south interior Karnataka to the Comorin area across interior Tamil Nadu.

The forecast said light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at isolated places in the State from May 23 to 26. No large change during the period May 27-29 is the weather outlook.

The bulletin warned of heat-wave conditions likely to prevail at isolated pockets across Telangana from May 23 to 26. The Met department has advised public not to expose directly to sunlight and take necessary precautions due to heatwave.

On Wednesday the highest day temperature of 45 degrees Celsius each was recorded in Nalgonda, Adilabad & Nizamabad for the first time in this season; Ramagundam 44, Khammam & Medak 43 each, Hanamkonda, Hyderabad, Bhadrachalam & Mahbubnagar 42 each, Hakimpet 41, Dundigal 40.
