Tank Bund: National president of Mala Mahanadu G Chennaiah has demanded the dismissal of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy for his comments against the Supreme Court and the National SC/ ST Commission regarding SC categorization, while speaking in a meeting held by a caste association. He said that the comments by the minister amounted to contempt of the court.

He warned the central government to act against the Union Minister for his comments and warned of an agitation if no action is taken against him. He was speaking at a protest staged by Mala Mahanadu at Ambedkar Statue here on Tuesday. Union Minister of State for Home Gangapuram Kishan Reddy had said two days ago that he would try to convince Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take up categorisation of SC reservations.

Chennaiah said that those in the government positions need to be impartial to all the sections, citing similar comments made by the then Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu in support of Manda Krishna Madiga. He said that the categorisation no longer remains a state issue but has become a national issue and that the Parliament has already announced that the opinion of all the states would be taken before finalising any decision in the matter.

He expressed his apprehensions that the comments reflect their efforts to keep Dalits away from being empowered. Chennaiah said that Madiga women are at least 25 years ahead of their counterparts in Mala community, and this has been proved in the comprehensive survey done by the state government.

Later, police shifted the protesters to Saifabad Police Station as mild tensions prevailed at the venue of the protest. Among those who participated in the protest include Mala Mahanadu Telangana working president Janga Srinivas, Rajaiah, Janardhan, Vijay and others.
