Live workshop held on advanced lung cancer
Yashoda Hospitals has conducted the first International Conference & Live Workshop on Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) & Advanced Lung Cancer Treatments. EBUS is a cutting-edge diagnostic procedure for diagnosis of lung cancers along with the treatment of TB and other lung diseases.
Khairatabad: Yashoda Hospitals has conducted the first International Conference & Live Workshop on Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) & Advanced Lung Cancer Treatments. EBUS is a cutting-edge diagnostic procedure for diagnosis of lung cancers along with the treatment of TB and other lung diseases.
The training programme –EBUS Masterclass – is a unique workshop to train doctors from all over India and abroad. This is the first-ever event in India, which is endorsed by World Association, European Association and Malaysian Association for Bronchology & Interventional Pulmonology.
This innovative and state-of-the-art technology is gaining rapid acceptance word over to diagnose, stage and treat lung cancers, TB and other acute lung diseases effectively, said a press release.
Yashoda Hospitals is one of the few centres in the world offering all the latest advances like EBUS, Radial EBUS, Navigational Bronchoscopy, Bronchial Thermoplasty, Cyrobiopsy, Robotic VATS, Lung Transplant and others under one roof. For the benefit of practicing pulmonologists and trainees, the conference provided a real-time environment with hands-on live workshop was inaugurated by Dr Pavan Gorukanti, Director of Yashoda Hospitals Group.
"Lung cancer is one of the commonest cancers and cause of cancer-related deaths all over the world. It accounts for 14.5% of all new cancer cases and 20% of cancer-related deaths worldwide. There were over 2 million new lung cancer cases estimated every year In India.
Lung cancer constitutes 7.5% of all new cancer cases and 10% of all cancer-related deaths in India. But with early detection and advances in treatment including targeted therapy, immunotherapy and other measures outcome improved much, but only if detected early. EBUS has revolutioned precision in early diagnosis of Lung Cancers," says Dr Pavan Gorukanti,.
More than 200 leading pulmonologists from India and all over the world attended the conference. The programme had eminent foreign and internationally reputed pulmonologists across the globe including Dr Lorenzo Corbetta from Italy, Dr Melvin Tay from Singapore, Dr Angela Takano from Singapore, Dr Aji Kavidasan from UK.
Participants gained exposure to a real-time EBUS and advanced lung cancer treatment procedures, patient selection, indications, procedure performance and complications overview. The programme included guest lectures, panel discussions, workshop demo and live demonstrations organised by Yashoda Hospitals team which was led by senior interventional pulmonologists Dr Hari Kishan Gonuguntla along with Dr M Gangadhar Reddy and Dr Y Gopi Krishna, added the press release.
