Alwal Corporator Chintala Vijayashanthi: Restoration of lakes and removal of encroachments remain the top priority of Chinthala Vijayshanti (TRS) who won the Alwal division for the second time.
Hyderabad: Restoration of lakes and removal of encroachments remain the top priority of Chinthala Vijayshanti (TRS) who won the Alwal division for the second time. The BSc graduate, recounting her last term experiences, says that she had solved water supply issue, developed "basthi dawakhanas" and controlled drain overflow, besides other civics issues. Now she aims to go beyond civic issues and targets to save water bodies, developing and restoring them, along with focusing on encroachments.
Expressing her enthusiasm to serve people and strive for all-round development of the division, Vijayshanti shared her immediate plans. She would focus on stormwater drains, which caused water stagnation in several areas, and the beautification of Chinaraya Cheruvu and Kotha Chervu, the two lakes in Alwal. "Stromwater drain plans in colonies are on the cards and we are waiting for funds," she says.
When asked about funds, she asserts that TRS never goes back in terms of giving money for development. "TRS party gives funds for the development of the division. We shall re-modify sewage systems and roads which are affected in colonies following floods".
Highlighting her unfulfilled promises of the last term, double bedrooms, she points out " last time we promised people during the election campaign, but the government doesn't have land in Malkajgiri. Once government allots lands, those who are eligible will get 2BHK houses. We collected applications from people and they are with the Collector. In a few areas, stormwater drain works have been finished. Works from BHEL Colony to Sathyam Nagar are finished. In Chandrapuram Colony due to the railway track issues cropped up. Hopefully, it will be resolved soon with the colony residents taking the necessary steps. Besides, community halls are being built," she adds.
