Kendriya Vidyalaya, Trimulgherry, participated in the Fit India Plog Run as a tribute to the Father of the Nation on his 150th birth anniversary here on Wednesday. 800 students, 90 staff and 350 parents took part in a 2 km run that included picking up trash along the route.

The run was flagged off by B Srilaxmi, the in-charge principal, at 8:30 am. Speaking on the occasion, she said, "The greatest tribute one can pay to Bapu is by maintaining cleanliness and a green and clean environment."

Parents chipped in by sponsoring biscuits, cakes, caps, garbage bags and a medical kit. The event was coordinated by G B Padma Rao, PET, along with staff members.

Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister, Kiren Rijiju, urged citizens to join a nationwide Fit India Plog Run as a tribute to the Father of the nation. 1,200 Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country took part in the run.
