Include Balija caste in OBC list, demand Lingayats
Representatives of Telangana state Veerashaiva Lingayat Federation called on National BC Commission here at Ravindra Bharathi and submitted a memorandum, requesting the Commission to consider including Lingayat and Balija castes into OBC list.

The team which met the Commission includes the federation state vice president Madapu Veera Mallesh, state youth president Alur Eshwara Prasad, women president Rudramadevi, Rajkumar, Shivasharanam, Gundappa, Vijay Kumar, Giribabu, and others.
At present, Veerashaiva Lingayats and Linga Balija castes are included in BCs but they are not included in the central government OBC list. The Lingayat leaders speaking on the occasion, said that they were being deprived of educational and employment opportunities as their castes are not included in OBC list.
