A woman died in a commotion while standing in queues at Mee-Seva centre at Golconda for 10,000 financial aid for flood victims. She was identified as Munavarunnisa (49).
According to the Golconda police, Munavarunnisa, wife of Syed Mastan, a resident of Hakimpeta visited Mee-Seva centre at Brindavan Colony to apply for flood aid. "Due to the huge crowd, the staff allowed 10 people at a time inside the Mee-Seva Centre and later closed the gates. However, when the gate was opened, all the victims rushed inside creating a commotion-like situation and the woman fell on the ground," the police said.
The woman who suffered breathlessness was shifted to a hospital where she was declared brought dead by the doctors. The woman has a son and three daughters.
Mee-Seva centres across the city were crowded after the government asked the victims to apply for flood relief aid. However, the scheme has been halted temporarily after the election commission instructed the officials to stop distributing money in the view of election code which came into place due to the GHMC elections.
