Hyderabad: 'Will accord priority to education, healthcare'
“I have ensured developmental works worth Rs 29.83 crore including laying of new roads, CRMP works, PPM works, central drainage system in most of the localities, changing of water pipelines and development of parks and playgrounds in division and more works are in progress
The Corporator of Santosh Nagar division, Mohammed Muzaffar Hussain, representing AIMIM, won for the second term in the recent GHMC elections. The 49-year old is a resident of Kurmaguda. He has been an active party worker since 1988. In the first attempt he fought from Kurmaguda in 2009 and lost with meagre margin of votes. Later, he won with good majority from Santosh Nagar in 2016. In an interview to The Hans India, he said that the localities in Santosh Nagar do not have major issues, except for some slums. "The division has seen great facelift during the last four years and that is the sole reason for people having faith in me and given me another chance as corporator," he noted.
"In the present term I have executed many works that include providing all basic amenities including proper roads, sewerage system, and many other major civic works. The slums now have good roads and some more need attention. I also have provided them a Basti Dawakhana. This was actually proposed for some other area, but on my request it came up here. Now, two Basti Dawakhanas are opened and one was inaugurated by MAUD Minister KT Rama Rao. I have ensured developmental works worth Rs 29.83 crore including laying of new roads, CRMP works, PPM works, central drainage system in most of the localities, changing of water pipelines and development of parks and playgrounds in division and more works are in progress," he thus explained his achievements.
When asked about the action plan of Santosh Nagar for the upcoming term, he said, the corporator said that he has a personal interest in education for children and improving health care in division. Since 2016, he has been striving for bringing a government school and now he will be focusing on its construction which will house KG to Class X. Land has been identified and soon the works will commence. He has also proposed for one more Urban Primary Health Center (UPHC) in a slum area. But the authorities have refused as only one UPHC is provided to each division. "So now I have decided to take up a complete development of present UPHC into a major government hospital, as in surrounding areas there is no government hospital," he noted. "Recently, a major road widening work was also sanctioned. This starts from Rein Bazar Chaman to Anmol Hotel in Edi Bazar, which needs acquiring around 75 properties. Amongst major works, he also listed development of Barhane Shah Sahab graveyard, which is one of the biggest graveyards in Old city. He proposed to come up with walkway and a space for Guslkhana (for last rites) and a prayer hall. For children, there are already seven parks and playgrounds and skating ground in division, but only two parks and a playground have been developed. Rest are in progress and will be completed at the earliest. And for women safety, most of the localities in the division have security cameras.
Santosh Nagar, Khalender Nagar, Jawahar Nagar and surrounding areas under the limits of Santosh Nagar police station have been equipped with CCTV cameras.
There is a need of these cameras in Milad Road, Eid Gah Road and Srinagar areas of Madanpet Police Station limits. Measures are being taken to install cameras in all the areas under the division," added Muzaffar Hussain.
